Artist Profile: Roxanne Marquez-Augustine

Roxanne Marquez-Augustine (b. 1985 – )

Grenadian born portrait artist, Roxanne Marquez-Augustine studied Visual Arts at the St. Joseph’s Convent, St. George’s. After two years of studying law at the University of the West Indies, which ended due to illness, she decided to go back to Visual arts. She studied Fine Arts at the local college and was successful in the CAPE examinations. She then taught the subject at the Grenada Boys Secondary School, becoming a full-time portrait painter when her art teacher at college said to her that it is either she teaches art or creates art. She works with acrylic on canvas, using bold colours and capturing the personalities of her subjects to the best of her abilities. Her love for people and animals is reflected in her paintings.
