Artist Profile: Tamika Gilbert

Tamika G. Gilbert (1988) Grenada, West Indies

Bio

Recently named as the Public Relation Officer of the Grenada Arts Council Tamika is a contemporary mixed media artist who believes art is for everyone and everyone should be represented in it. She has long been a part of the performing arts as a dancer; Afro-Caribbean, and Grenadian Folk and Cultural being her main styles.

These two styles combined with the love she has for her heritage have carried over into her visual art portfolio. Tamika enjoys showcasing women in her work, especially the black woman.

The statements made in Gilbert’s work matches her brave bold personality. Tamika has made it a practice of using unconventional materials and mediums in her work.
