Call for Art: Equality and Freedom in Grenada

Theme: Equality that Inspires and Freedom that Transforms

Submission Deadline: March 20, 2026

To commemorate the Ninth Inter-American Week for the People of American Descent in the Americas and in keeping with the UN second decade for People of African Descent (2025 -2024) an upcoming week of reflection, the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) Grenada Office and in collaboration with the University of the West Indies Global Campus, the Grenada Arts Council, are pleased to launch a Call for Art under the theme:

“Equality that Inspires and Freedom that Transforms.”

This initiative invites artists to explore, interpret, and express the ideas of equality, personal and collective freedom, transformation, hope, and the power of human expression.

Theme Description

Artists are encouraged to submit works that capture the spirit of equality as a source of inspiration, and freedom as a catalyst for transformation. Works may reflect personal journeys, community stories, historical inspirations, or forward‑looking visions of a more just, uplifting, and transformative world.

Eligibility

  • Open to artists residing in Grenada.
  • All submissions must be original works created by the artist.  Art may include new and existing pieces of art.
  • Artwork must align with the official theme.

Artwork Specifications

  • Maximum canvas size: 20 × 20 inches
  • Any medium is accepted (painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, etc.)
  • Each piece must be properly mounted or framed for display.

Artist Responsibilities

Mounting & Presentation

Artists are responsible for proper mounting, framing, or presentation of their artwork before submission.

Delivery of Artwork

All works must be delivered to the OAS Grenada Office, The Carenage, St. George’s, by March 20, 2026 between the hours of 1pm to 4pm,  Monday to Friday.

Security of Artwork

Artists are responsible for the security and care of their artwork throughout delivery, display, and collection.

Artist Availability

Artists may be requested to explain or discuss their work during exhibition activities or opening events.

Recognition

Selected works will be showcased at an exhibition Hosted by the Organization of American States in Grenada and housed at the Marryshow house UWI Grenada.

Additional acknowledgments may be announced.
